VIVEKANANDA YUBA SAMITY (VYS) is secular, non-political and non-profit making in its structure, founded in the year 1960 and registered (Registration No.S/91331) under the Societies Registration Act XXVI, 1860 of Govt. of West Bengal, INDIA with the basic objective of nurturing a harmonious and societal atmosphere among people and to stand beside the poor/needy people. It is an oldest philanthropic organisation in the Sankrail Constituency located at South Howrah District and is playing a pioneering role in all-round development of Thanamakua Gram Panchayet and its surrounding areas. All the inhabitants of this large area are united under the umbrella of VYS. In the span of last 50 years, VYS has grown from strength to strength to strive towards establishing a better environment, in terms of creating new recreation facilities as well as other necessary developmental work.

Now it is also registered under Section 12AA of Income Tax Act, Govt. of India and donation to our organisation is exempted under Section 80G of the Income Tax Act, Govt. of India. Ministry of Home Affairs of Govt. of India has also granted us Registration under Foreign Contribution Regulation Act, 1976 of Govt. of India.

VYS is playing a pioneering role in various charitable and all-round development of the community in Sankrail Block, Howrah. We feel that to make our country strong, prosperous, we should emphasis on human resource development. Accordingly we care particularly the children and young generation to help them to grow properly. We had taken a major significant developmental project in the financial year 2003-2004. In the meantime, we had already completed some works and in near future the remaining part of the project will be completed.

Our activities and continuous efforts for healthier society have been well appreciated by the Sports Department, Youth Welfare Department, Environment Department of Govt. of West Bengal as also by Howrah Municipal Corporation, Howrah Zila Parishad, Sankrail Panchayet Samity, Thanamakhua Gram Panchayet, concerned MP & MLA. The electronic media as well as newspapers have also appraised our efforts.
